The Role
We are seeking a Environmental Compliance Engineer to serve as the regulatory expert for Certivo’s platform. You will be responsible for understanding and advising on the ever-evolving regulatory landscape and ensuring that Certivo can support customers in meeting their specific product compliance needs. Your expertise will be crucial in helping our clients navigate product regulations across various industries, ensuring their products meet the necessary standards for market access. You will also guide the development and continuous update of Certivo’s compliance framework to reflect regulatory changes.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Expertise & Research:
Serve as the internal expert on all current and evolving regulatory standards across multiple domains, including environmental (RoHS, REACH, TSCA, Prop 65, PFAS), safety, quality, and sustainability regulations.
Continuously monitor global regulatory changes, providing actionable insights on their implications for Certivo and our customers.
Collaborate with the product and AI teams to ensure that regulatory updates are accurately incorporated into Certivo’s compliance platform and features.
Customer-Specific Regulatory Guidance:
Work directly with customers to understand their unique product regulations and supply chain challenges.
Advise customers on industry-specific compliance needs, ensuring that their products meet relevant regulations (e.g., custom materials, specific markets).
Help customers interpret regulations such as RoHS, REACH, and TSCA, and work with the integration team to support tailored solutions for their compliance needs.
Regulatory Data Management:
Manage and validate regulatory data, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance across all product and material datasets.
Work closely with customers to collect and verify product compliance data, certifications, and declarations.
Ensure that compliance certificates, such as Bill of Materials (BOM) data and supplier documentation, are up to date and correctly integrated into Certivo’s platform.
Internal Process Development:
Establish and document best practices for managing and tracking evolving regulations and their impacts on Certivo’s customers.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of Certivo’s regulatory content and compliance workflows, ensuring that our platform remains cutting-edge in a dynamic regulatory environment.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborate with internal stakeholders (product, tech, and customer success teams) to ensure that regulatory requirements are considered in product design and customer onboarding.
Provide training and support for internal teams regarding the impact of evolving regulations and compliance requirements.
Reporting & Compliance Documentation:
Generate and review compliance reports, helping customers stay on top of regulatory requirements and manage compliance risks.
Assist in the creation of compliance documentation for customers, including audit trails, risk assessments, and impact analysis.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a regulatory expert with a deep understanding of the product compliance landscape and experience advising customers on specific regulatory requirements. You should have a passion for staying ahead of regulatory changes and the ability to communicate complex compliance topics clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Must-Have Qualifications
5+ years of experience in regulatory affairs or compliance within the manufacturing, electronics, medical devices, or other highly regulated industries.
In-depth knowledge of global environmental and product regulations, such as RoHS, REACH, TSCA, Prop 65, PFAS, and others.
Expertise in product compliance and supply chain compliance management, with a focus on navigating complex regulatory environments and ensuring customer-specific needs are met.
Ability to interpret regulatory frameworks and provide actionable guidance for customers, ensuring their product data aligns with evolving legal requirements.
Strong experience with compliance certification processes, including Bill of Materials (BOM) management, material declarations, and supplier compliance.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex regulatory concepts in a clear, actionable manner.
Proven experience working with ERP/PLM systems and compliance tools (e.g., Assent, GreenSoft, or similar).
A strong customer-focused mindset with the ability to work directly with clients and understand their unique product compliance challenges.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
ISO Certifications (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001) or experience with ISO standards.
Familiarity with global sustainability standards (e.g., CSRD, ESG).
Experience in creating or maintaining compliance documentation for regulatory bodies or audits.
A background in data analysis and the ability to create compliance dashboards or reports.
